Happiness 101

Thanks to Myrna at Night Writer for this delightful award that asks the recipient to list 10 things that make them happy. Here's my list:

1. Music. Playing it, listening to it, singing in the car and not caring what the driver in the next lane is thinking, whatever. I'm a fan.

2. My family.

3. Cats, specifically mine. She's 16 and experiencing old kitty health problems, so I'm not sure how much longer I get to enjoy her loud purr and the screeching meow she makes when I see her in the morning, but I know she makes me happy.

4. Books and the thrill of well-told stories.

5. Going outside and taking a nice, long walk.

6. Cheerios.

7. Learning new things.

8. Making pretty things that make other people smile.

9. Writing.

10. Friends.

The first snow!!!

It's happening right now. I was squeezing in a little internet time--difficult to do lately--when a friend texted me that it was snowing! So I jammed my hat on my head, grabbed my coat, and went outside pajama pants and all to watch the snow and catch a few flakes on my tongue.

I know there won't be much of it, and it will melt quickly--and I don't even want piles of snow on the ground until after Thanksgiving, thank you very much--but it's still exciting to see the first snowflakes of the season.

An Award!

I recently received the Great Look Award from Eli at The Tainted Poet's YA Book Review! Thanks Eli! I like your blog's look, too. (I've never received one of these before, and it's kind of fun.)
