Musical Monday (63): "Barton Hollow" by The Civil Wars

Every Monday I post whatever song I can't get out of my head or just can't get enough of, because Mondays are often less than marvelous and music is happy--even when it's sad. If you'd like to join the party make your own Musical Monday post and leave a comment!

This week's song is "Barton Hollow" by The Civil Wars. Their first album, Barton Hollow, was released last Tuesday and I like it. A lot. The Civil Wars is a duo composed of Joy Williams and John Paul White. I've been listening to Joy Williams since I was in middle school and I started listening to The Civil Wars a couple years ago. (They were featured on Musical Monday (3) . . . which is sixty Musical Mondays ago. Whoa.) As much as I like The Civil Wars, though, "Barton Hollow" was an acquired taste for me. I didn't like this song the first time I heard it but it grew on me.

What do you think?

Wishing you a Magazine-worthy Monday,

PS: If you go the Civil Wars's website you can download "Barton Hollow" as well as a live album (which is very good, btw) for free. Just so you know.
