Dear NaNoWriMo 2010,

Greetings. I regret to inform you that I will not be attending your thirty-day party of crazy this year.

(I know. I'm sad, too.)

My decision is based on the seven fairly lengthy essays and eight paintings I must complete throughout November. Unlike you, they all need to be polished make sense down to the last line and comma.

I'm pleased to note that NaNoWriMo is offering web badges for people who can't participate in, but would still like to support, you and your courageously wacky participants. I've placed one in my sidebar; I think it looks quite nice.

Good luck and inspiration to all 2010 NaNo-ers! I leave you with "The NaNoWriMo" song from ALL CAPS and a link to last year's NaNo-themed interview with Stephanie Perkins, whose first novel (started as a NaNo draft) is coming out this December! Exciting stuff.

Best,

I'm sorry to hear you won't be participating this year! I'm participating for the first time ever, and I'm so stoked - hopefully it will be the swift kick in the a*$ that I need to finish RACE :)

Good luck!!! I'd love to participate, but I simply have too many other commitments. November is looking pretty stressful without another 50,000 words tacked on...

I don't think I can do it this year either. Good luck on your school work!
